Deodorise a Room

Dust and untidiness are plain to see. And cleaning them up is usually just a matter of getting on with the task. Other cleaning issues are concerned with hygiene. This is less obvious, but if we wipe down sinks, kitchen benches and doorknobs with sanitizer, or disinfectant we can almost always eliminate any hygiene problems.

Occasionally, we have a hidden issue in the cleaning. We might find that a room doesn’t smell right, or that somebody suffers an allergy with no apparent cause. This is not something we want to neglect. Removing odours and allergens is a priority.

If there is an odour or allergen problem, we should look in the hidden places. There may be something hidden behind the bookshelf or underneath a cabinet. These places are hard to dust or vacuum, so they are often neglected. Yet there might be anything there. When we do clean these spaces we may well remove the source of an odour or allergen.

Other ways to deodorise a room – Office Cleaning Sydney:

Air Filter – An air filter with a HEPA filter section will remove a lot a gunk from the air. The HEPA section deals with very fine particles.

While these are very effective, they will need to be run for many hours a day, perhaps several days per week. So the problem will disappear slowly.

UV light – This is good for disinfecting medium size surfaces, such as kitchen benches, cutting boards, computer keyboards, cooking utensils. The UV light kills most bacteria when applied for 15 minutes or more, depending on the strength of the light.

UV light is very harmful to the eyes, basically causing severe sunburn, even after a few seconds. So wear protective glasses when using these devices.

Ozone – This is a more recent trend. It has been used to clean car interiors. The ozone machine works in an enclosed space, filling the air with ozone which suffocates any animals, insects, plants, mould and other biological material. This is dangerous as humans, pet animals or house plants cannot be in the room during the ozone treatment, or for several hours afterward. But it does kill the source of many odours.

Deep Carpet Steam cleaning – Vacuuming will remove most surface dust and dirt from a carpet, and this is important. But there will also be deep down pollens and grit in carpet. This can be the cause of allergic reactions

Deep down particles in carpet can be removed with steam cleaning. We recommend this twice per year, and after any spill or issues with contamination.
