Office Cleaning Services Sydney

Our computers tend to accumulate some grime and dust. Part of this is due to the inherent design of computers; cooling fans will attract dust, as will CRT screens that generate static electricity. But to be honest, most of the uncleanliness on our computers is due to the human user. We add a surprising amount of spilt coffee and snack reside to our keyboards and mouse. This is unsightly, and if it causes a stuck key of a wobbly mouse it may interfere with our computer’s functionality.

Clean Your Computer

  • Turn your computer off before you start cleaning.
  • Wipe the screen and outer surface of the computer with a microfiber cloth. This will remove all dust and actually get rid of bacteria.
  • Detach the keyboard if possible. This will often be the dirtiest part of the equipment.
  • Turn the keyboard upside down and shake out any loose debris
  • Vacuum the keyboard. Small USB powered vacuums are available.
  • Run a post-it-note between the keys of the keyboard to remove dust and grime.
  • Use a Q-tip and some alcohol or hand sanitizer to clean the surface if each key.
  • Vacuum the cooling fan if there is one. This tends to get dusty.
  • Use a can of compressed air to clean small spaces
  • Clean the mouse. If it has a ball and sensors then disassemble this and clean it with tweezers and a small brush. Dirt in this section will cause the mouse to function poorly.
  • Clean the mouse-pad. Washing it with detergent and warm water is usually sufficient.

Never use solvents when cleaning the main parts of computer. Some mild solvents can be used on the keyboard.

Commercial Cleaning Services

We will never have the austere and sterile computers predicted in 1960s Sci-Fi literature, and perhaps that is a good thing. But it is probably a good habit to keep equipment as clean as realistically possible.
